Welcome to the Casa Speed Blog!

Aloha! We’re the Speeds! I’m Sandra, a member of the Air National Guard (ANG) and soccer mom to the cutest curly-haired kid in the world. His name is Maxim Speed, and he is a mini-version of his dad, Jermaine Speed.

Speed is my husband’s last name, but it’s also his nickname so everyone calls him that, including me.  He’s also in the ANG, which makes us a dual military family. In 2020, we’ll both retire and start new lives as civilians. Crazy how fast 20+ years have gone by!

Of course, we can’t forget our two adorable pomeranians, Leo + Lexi. When they get yappy, we call them Leo Madrid + Barkalona. Can you tell we’re a soccer family!?

We love to travel and are so lucky to live at a world-premier vacation destination! On Casa Speed, you’ll find a lot of my recommendations for all things Hawai’i. We’ve been here since 2009 and have quite a few secrets to share! So if you want to know where to locals go, you’ve come to the right place.

I love local businesses and will be highlighting them often because I believe in buying local whenever possible. Some will belong to my friends and many won’t, however, all opinions will always be my own. I can’t help but review EVERYTHING because I’m always asking MY friends for their opinions, and think it’s valuable to share the inside scoop whenever possible.

As I add more content, you’ll also come to find inspiration for home decor, food, beauty and self-development. I truly believe that your environment affects how you feel about yourself and your life, so it’s important to surround yourself with beautiful things.

In the meantime, check out my Pinterest profile to get a preview of my style and what’s to come!

We are also lucky enough to travel quite often for Max’s soccer – he’s played on the U.S. mainland as well as England, Scotland, Spain, Portugal, Japan & Canada – so you’ll also read about our awesome adventures all around the world. We’re hoping to go to Brazil in Spring 2019, but if not, then Italy and Greece are next on our list.

One cause close to our heart is raising money for Type 1 diabetes (T1D)… Max was diagnosed when he was 7 years old.  We are so lucky to have such a strong, resilient kid who’s thrived in spite of having T1D, and we are so, so proud of him! Although he has his own Instagram following of 32k+, you’ll see a lot of him here too (I can’t help it!).

Please feel free to connect with us on our social media platforms – I always follow back. All of my links are at the top of the blog. You can find Speed here, and Max also has a Youtube and a Facebook page.

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you’ll stay a while and explore. I love to make new friends so don’t be shy! Feel free to leave a comment on any posts you like, and don’t forget to subscribe to the newsletter here! Mahalo!
